Collaboration is sweet

An interactive map recently released by Australian sugar cane industry peak body Canegrowers shows over a decade of collaboration between the industry and Great Barrier Reef research, including multiple Tropical Water Quality (TWQ) Hub projects. TWQ Hub projects on landholder engagement, fine-scale water quality monitoring, improved irrigation, conversion to wetlands, runoff reduction and others are all featured in the map. CANEGROWERS Environment and Sustainability Manager Mick Quirk said the industry body was glad to be involved with TWQ Hub research. “We aim to engage with the best environment and water quality science out there, and the NESP Tropical Water Quality Hub is providing that world-class research and engagement so we’re definitely proud to partner with them on that research, which is really helping our members better understand and manage their interaction with the environment.”
