I\u2019m pleased to report that there has been enormous interest in helping us help the Reef. The latest version of the jam-packed program<\/a><\/strong> for our Great Barrier Reef Restoration Symposium<\/strong><\/a>, to be held in Cairns from 16th<\/sup>-19th<\/sup> July 2018, features 114 speakers bringing ideas from all over the world and from many different areas of expertise.<\/p>\n Got something to contribute? Registrations are still open<\/strong><\/a> for non-presenting attendees. Our Young Adults workshop<\/strong><\/a> on Monday 16th<\/sup> is now fully subscribed, with keen youngsters travelling from as far afield as Sydney. For those who cannot attend, we hope to livestream at least some of the sessions \u2013 check our website for details \u2013 and videos of presentations will be available online shortly after the Symposium itself.<\/p>\n Places are still available for field trip activities on Thursday 19th<\/sup> July, including inspecting a working COTS control vessel, visiting a turtle rehabilitation centre and a coral nursery project at Fitzroy Island, but numbers are limited so get in quick<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n The Great Barrier Reef Restoration Symposium is a collaborative effort between the Tropical Water Quality Hub (TWQ) of the Australian Government\u2019s National Environmental Science Program (NESP)<\/strong><\/a> and the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program (RRAP)<\/strong><\/a>, with funding support from the Association of Marine Park Tourism Operators (AMPTO)<\/a><\/strong> and the Reef and Rainforest Research Centre (RRRC<\/strong>)<\/a>.
